Getting started

Home screen of B-Folders

The Home screen of B-Folders is the first screen displayed when you start the application. It allows you to easily switch between database locations and conveniently access the other screens.

You can have two separate databases: one on your mobile device's internal storage and the second on the SD card. Normally, SD cards have larger capacities so you can store more data on them. Also a database on the SD card has the advantage of allowing you to sync it over a USB cable.

Only one database location can be active at a time. You select the location of the database you want to use from the drop-down menu on the Home screen.

Creating a database

Press the Folders button. Initially there is no database at your selected location so you will be required to create a new one. You should provide a strong password and make sure you will remember the password. (B-Folders cannot recover lost passwords – without it, all your data will be inaccessible). After the database is created, you will see the Folders screen.

NOTE: You can easily enter numeric passwords by using the special on-screen numeric keypad. To use it press the 123 button.

Locking database

Your database will be automatically locked after a period of inactivity. To manually lock your database, press the Lock button on the Home screen of B-Folders. You can control the amount of time before auto locking by  selecting Settings > Auto lock timeout option.

NOTE: Auto lock timeout can be set in the Unlock database dialog except on devices with small screens.

Unlocking database

You will be asked to unlock the database whenever you wish to access your data. You must provide the password in a dialog box either with your usual input method or by using the numeric keypad. The latter option provides a convenient way to enter numeric passwords. To use the numeric keypad press the 123 button and to use your usual input, press the ABC button.
