Importing from other password managers

You can import data into B-Folders Desktop Edition from a variety of applications. Since each application has its own ideology, data format and data representation, B-Folders endeavors to preserve the semantics of the original data, but not the representation.

IMPORTANT: Importing data into B-Folders from other applications creates a lot of new items. Since syncing hundreds or even thousands of these could be quite slow over a network connection, we recommend syncing imported data over a USB cable – the fastest sync method.

Dedicated import facilities

Importing from LastPass, 1Password and other password managers

A database with logins should be exported as a CSV (comma separated values, aka comma-delimited format) file.

Importing the CSV file into B-Folders

  • Select the File > Import Data menu item.
  • Select CSV and press the OK button.
  • Select the CSV file and press the Open button.
  • Make sure Login password item type is selected.
  • Set field mapping for each column in the table. You can map two or more columns to the same field.
  • Press the OK button. You should see an information dialog and the records will have been imported into an Imported Data folder.
